Mortgage Info for Future Homeowners
Some Things You Should Know
If you're a first-time home-buyer, then chances are you have a lot of questions. The lending industry is a billion-dollar giant in this country, involving banks, financial professionals, government officials, and a whole host of busy professionals who dedicate their time to getting the most out of this industry. In other words, there are some heavy players who know what they're doing. You just want to buy a house, so you may at times feel overwhelmed by the slick advertising, the lending jargon, the huge sums of money involved.
Well, it's good to know that there are some protections for the little guy out there. By law, lenders are not allowed to discriminate against potential borrowers based on the following aspects:
- color
- religion
- gender
- race
- disability
- national origin
- familial status
- marital status
If you feel at any time that a lender you're dealing with is discriminating against you for any of these reasons, report it immediately. It's illegal in every state for them to do so.
